Wheat...Record-low wheat acreage estimates from USDA spurred a rally
across the wheat futures complex on Tuesday, bolstering cash wheat bids
on the west coast. Planting estimates for the Pacific Northwest showed
winter wheat plantings for Washington unchanged from last year, while
Idaho was up 4%. Spring wheat planting intentions put Washington down
5% from last year and Idaho sowing 2% less than last year.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed 13.3 million bushels of
wheat shipped off U.S. ports last week, putting the year-to-date total
at 746 million and 17% ahead of a year ago. Hard red winter was the top
shipper with 8 million bushels, followed by hard red spring wheat with
2.1 million and soft white at 1.7 million. West coast exporters moved a
total of 6.1 million bushels of wheat, going mostly to Japan, along with
nearly 22 million bushels of corn and 4.9 million of soybeans.
