Wheat...West coast wheat markets have followed the roller-coast swings
across the futures complex, with prices edging lower on Tuesday but above
week-ago levels. White wheat has remained a bit more steadfast as export
bids have hovered near the $6 mark over the past two weeks, with no carry
posted beyond March into August. Warm weather has returned to the Pacific
Northwest and melted most of the recent snow and rainfall is forecast to
hit most of the wheat growing regions mid to late week.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed wheat movement out of U.S.
ports dropped back from the prior week, coming in at 12.6 million bushels.
This put the year-to-date total at 684 million bushels, which is 19% ahead
of a year ago. Hard red winter moved 6 million bushels, white wheat loaded
out 2.8 million and hard red spring was at 2.1 million. West coast export
activity showed an emphasis on row crop movement, as 22.6 million bushels
of corn shipped along with 5 million bushels of soybeans. Wheat shipments
were at 7.3 million bushels, going mostly to The Philippines.
